Notoriety is nothing new for The Slang. The Washington D.C. indie-alt rock trio has featured at music festivals such Midpoint Music Festival, North by Northeast Music Fest, and Philadelphia’s International Pop Overthrow Festival. Their music has been used on television shows on HBO and USA networks. Over the years The Slang have worked with some of the industry’s top producers. Their self titled debut was mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Tokyo Police Club, The Toxic Airborne Event) and mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys).

The Slang are a band that likes to write about common problems from an uncommon perspective. Situating themselves in the local music scene the Slang are inspired by their surroundings:

“Every time the band has recorded it’s been in a different city and studio. Capturing the vibe and feel of each city has been important for us as a band. We enjoy working with new people to learn other ways to record.”

Desperate Times, the latest from the  D.C trio, was recorded in Nashville this time around. This latest record sees the band building upon their impressive resume. Desperate Times reflects on what seems to be a situation where we find ourselves when things seem to be falling apart and there is nowhere else to go. Filled with melodic choruses and indie synth rock hooks, lead singer John Bobo delivers an album you will want to listen to more than a few times.
