The Wood That Sings: the Marimba, captures the story of the marimba, a unique keyboard percussion instrument with a rich history. This film brings attention to how the marimba is constructed and with what materials, how it is performed, and, it’s significance to the percussion world. This is an overview of a 30 minute documentary that delves into the building and tuning process of the five octave marimba that was constructed at UNLV.

Photo Expose and article (https://unlv.exposure.co/making-music) shows how this project transcends academic disciplines and engages students and colleagues across continents in the process of creating an instrument with wood that sings.
