Las Vegas record label, Geykido Comet Records, or GC Records for short, is celebrating their 20th anniversary.  We have been looking back at the last 20 years of the label here at Rise UP Daily. Established in 1999 in Southern California with its first release of Intro5spect’s 7-inch single ”Education,”  GC Records has become part of the fabric of the burgeoning Vegas music scene since moving there. The current lineup features artists from across the country such as The Dirty Little Betty’s from Oklahoma City, Enemy of the Sun, From  Washington DC and Gasoline Kills from Orange County, but the heart of the label stems from the neon lights of Sin City. So today we’ll be looking at a few of their current Vegas acts.

Jesse Pino

Singer-songwriter Jesse Pino is no stranger to the music scene in Las Vegas. Pino has been part of the Vegas music scene for over two decades now. First making his debut at the age of 15 with Nadaclue. After Nadaclue came to an end in the year 2000, Jesse spent the next decade sharing the stage with his brothers in Left Standing. Stepping up to the mic, Pino ventured on his own 2010  sharing the stage with act like Chuck Ragen, Tegan and Sara and in 2016 was named KNPR.org Las Vegas’ Best Singer Songwriter. With the backing of a full band the Vital Signs, Jesse released their debut EP “Signal Received” on GC in 2017.

Illicitor

From the ashes of Las Vegas’ Holding on to Sound came the fury that is Illicitor. The hardcore-punk trio released their debut in 2017. Illicitor describes their music as hard and heavy tunes that you and your mates can drink too. That is a ruse, however, as their music will melt your face off.

The Rifleman

The Rifleman is a three piece folk/punk band from Las Vegas. The trio is comprised of fellow GC  Records members from Bogtrotter’s Union and Lawn Mower Death Riders. The band blends a combination of folk, bluegrass, country-western and punk rock. The Rifleman released their debut album “Don’t Laugh, This is Serious” earlier  this year.

Lawn Mower Death Riders

Lawn Mower Death Riders formed in 2013 and first appeared on GC Records in 2015. The alternative-country-geek-punk band from Las Vegas bring a unique sound to the stage. Influenced from various genres such as bluegrass, mountain music and punk rock, brothers Nathan and Ian Stewart bring a different blend to the record label and the Vegas music scene.

Bogtrotter’s Union

From the Irish pubs of Las Vegas formed a one of a kind band. Originally performing cover songs and Irish folk songs the Bogtrotter’s have cultivated a sound of their own. Still sticking to their Irish folk music, they added another layer of punk rock giving them a sound to pound your pints too.

Robert Miranda

Robert is a music consumer. As in he consumes all things music: live shows, vinyl, Spotify, download cards. If it sounds good, he's in.
