Amanda Palmer, singer in the band Dresden Dolls, has become rather notorious for crowdfunding and not paying people but also for using racial slurs to her non-white employees, among a long list of other things. I have recently come into contact with one of Palmer’s whistleblowers who she kicked in the head and back in 2013 in Auckland, New Zealand at the King’s Arms Tavern. There are also allegations coming to the surface from her black and/or female employees who were “offered” to her husband Neil Gaiman, including one who was nanny to the kids. The most prominent of Gaiman’s victims right now, Scarlett, was on Tortoise media podcast testifying as to her experiences in the Palmer/Gaiman household.  She claims that Palmer would walk around naked. Neil Gaiman came into her bathroom after offering her a bath and proceeded to assault her to the point of raping her and Palmer knew about all of this.

These days, it is very easy to dislike Amanda Palmer, who has spent considerable time and effort pretending to be a punk (fairly recently Palmer grossed about $100,000 from an unauthorized cover of Radiohead songs, a disgrace). I am writing this opinion piece because I want to dismantle that illusion she so carefully cultivates. 

Amanda has hurt several of her fans in her audiences and in my opinion and I will hope to prove that she has done this on purpose methodically and with malice. The victims are in Auckland, New Zealand and in Vienna, Austria. I do not think her excuses that are planted on her blog say as much as the words of the victims so I will quote the New Zealand victim extensively. 

“Holy shit, I’m in this video (around 2:10), this is it, it’s September 2013. That’s when it happened. Front row, red hair, black top, chubby.” This whistleblower is a musician and artist in a small suburb in New Zealand. We were introduced to each other by other intrepid former-Palmer-fans on the subreddit r/AmandaPalmerUncovered. Her name is of public record on various blogs and music forums of 2013 as many of her friends were with her when Amanda Palmer launched herself into the crowd (where she ended up kicking the victim in the head and face as she scrambled back onto the stage). So while I will not expose her name here, it is not a secret and clever internet sleuths should be able to find her. But what she has done is send me a copy of her post-concussion syndrome doctor’s note that is dated 3 weeks after the concert at the King’s Arms in Auckland, so her accusation seems to check out. 

So here are some of my speculations.

Palmer is notorious for using and dumping fellow musicians. She has profound internalized misogyny, which came into full flower when she met and married author and accused rapist Neil Gaiman. By 2013, she had been with Gaiman (or integrated into his abusive polycule) for 4 years. The New Zealand victim said that she was standing in the front row because Palmer had promised that she would have a coordinated post-concert meeting with one of her male bandmates, a singer the victim adored. 

Therefore a slow but inescapable plan developed as Palmer made it so that a rival musician would stand in the front row directly in front of her as she proceeded to crowd surf dangerously with no regard to the folks in the front row. The Auckland victim has now had about 11 years of post-concussion effects including sensitivity to sound and light and a permanent dent that Palmer inflicted on her head. She also claims to have watched as many fellow artists in New Zealand chose Palmer over her to chase clout despite knowing the circumstances of her injury. 

It is in my opinion that this further victimization is also by Palmer’s design. She has never apologized for the concussion, despite ample communication by the small but intense NZ rock music scene, and has never, despite her immense Patreon earnings ($19,000/month in 2024), paid the victim compensation for their time off of work for recovery. 

Palmer and current husband Gaiman have traveled around the world, careful to conceal their violent and financial crimes in Auckland and NZ at large. Both of them fled New Zealand during the pandemic claiming it was because of covid and their own breakup, but it has been recently revealed that New Zealand Police were investigating a sexual assault claim against Gaiman. 

Palmer is a liar, a poser and a textbook colonizer: she colonizes the scenes, she colonizes countries, and she colonizes the minds of her rabid fans. 

On Friday August 30th, 2024, I called New York State Child Protective Services to voice my concerns which were initially triggered by the Auckland victim. We stayed on the call for two hours as case workers took me seriously and professionally.

To say that Palmer knows about my animus towards her and my current campaign to reveal the many outrageous things she has inflicted on the punk scene is an understatement. It is very likely Palmer is in the Reddit group right now consistently watching what is said in there. 

So for now Amanda Palmer’s only friend is Amanda Palmer.

Such as it always has been and such as it will be in the future when all is revealed.
