The NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas has once again proven to be the ultimate playground for media and entertainment professionals. Amidst the sea of cutting-edge technology and industry jargon, attendees have encountered moments of levity that only a convention of this magnitude can provide.
AI: The New Intern
Artificial Intelligence has taken center stage at this year’s NAB Show, with companies showcasing AI tools designed to revolutionize content creation. One exhibitor proudly presented an AI system capable of generating news scripts in seconds. An attendee quipped, “Great, now even robots can take my job as a struggling journalist.” Another observed, “Finally, an intern who doesn’t ask for coffee breaks.”
Cloud Storage: The Ultimate Black Hole
Cloud virtualization is a hot topic, with vendors offering solutions to store vast amounts of data. One panelist joked, “With all our content in the cloud, we’ve effectively created the world’s largest black hole. Let’s just hope it doesn’t start sucking in our budgets too.”
Networking Events: Where Business Meets Buffet
The “Cocktails and Conversation” event provided a relaxed atmosphere for radio executives to mingle. One attendee noted, “It’s the only place where you can discuss serious business strategies while balancing a cocktail in one hand and a mini taco in the other.” Another added, “Networking here is 10% exchanging ideas and 90% trying not to spill your drink.”
Cord-Cutting: The Double-Edged Sword
Discussions about the rise of cord-cutting dominated many sessions. One speaker remarked, “Consumers are cutting the cord faster than we can say ‘subscription model.’ It’s like we are giving them scissors and then wondering why the rope bridge collapsed.”
Virtual Reality: Real Laughs
Virtual Reality demonstrations attracted curious attendees eager to experience immersive content. One participant, after fumbling with a VR headset, joked, “I was promised a glimpse into the future, but all I got was a close-up of my own feet.”
In between the serious discussions and groundbreaking innovations, NAB Show 2025 has provided me and all of the other attendees moments of humor and camaraderie, reminding everyone that while the future of media is a serious business, it’s essential to enjoy the ride.
