8DAYS is a twin stick shooter that brings you back to the old days of action games, with a modern taste for glorious violence.
This game wants blood. Your blood to be more specific. What starts off as a simple mission to put an end to the dreaded Rice Embargo, turns into a tale of conspiracy and revenge.
You play as either Lola ‘Wasp’ Cruz or Mike ‘Ghost’ Doe, two mercenaries who work for an organization known as G.O.D (Gold, Oil & Diamonds). If you’ve ever played a twin stick shooter you’ll be right at home with the controls. However ammo can be limited so at times you’ll be relying more on stealth tactics and melee rather than the typical shoot anything that moves strategy. The enemies will be less kind. You will die, and it will be often. Luckily there are plenty of checkpoints so you won’t loose too much progress, but your health won’t regen so it keeps it from becoming too easy.
Level design is pretty well done here. The maps never feel to small and are usually packed with alterantive routes, secret areas and ammunition caches. The environment changes frequently aswell. You’ll be exploring jungle, desert, caves and even cities. There is a good variety of enemies to murder in each level and it typically ends with a boss fight who is usually more challenging than the last.
